"Waking Up At 3 AM, Working Weekends": Indian-Origin Man’s Post-Graduation Reality In US Sparks Viral Discussion
June 21, 2025 | A LinkedIn post by Gaurav Chintamneedi, an Indian-origin graduate from Chapman University, has gone viral for its raw and honest portrayal of the post-college life struggle many young professionals face. Now working as an assistant store manager at a leading e-commerce firm in the United States, Gaurav’s words have struck a chord with thousands online.

In his now-viral post, Chintamneedi shared his harsh transition from academic life to corporate reality. After relocating across the country to join his job in the DMV (DC-Maryland-Virginia) region, he found himself in a whirlwind of physical exhaustion and emotional disconnect.
“I imagined early 20s life like the ones we see on TV… but reality hit differently,” he wrote.
Instead of the social and aspirational lifestyle he had expected—complete with 9-to-5 work hours, after-work hangouts, and meaningful metro conversations—Chintamneedi found himself waking up at 3 AM, working 50–60 hours weekly, and spending most weekends at work.

“On my rare days off, I was too exhausted to do anything. I even asked myself—did I peak in college?” he candidly reflected.
Chintamneedi clarified that his post wasn’t meant as a complaint. Rather, it was written for the many others who feel lost during their first year after graduation. “Feelings of doubt, disconnection, or disillusionment are more common than we think,” he said, urging others not to feel alone in their struggle.

His reflection on the emotional toll of early career life—from doomscrolling on Instagram to difficulty in making new friends—offered a relatable portrait of modern adulthood.
The post quickly gained traction on social media, with many young professionals and recent graduates offering words of support and sharing their own similar experiences.
“Love the introspection and advice, G! You’ve grown so much,” wrote one commenter.
“This was so encouraging—especially since I just graduated a few weeks ago,” added another.
The story adds to a growing conversation around work-life balance, mental health, and the realistic expectations young professionals must navigate as they enter the workforce in high-pressure environments.
