Frustrated with corporate life, Layla Kelly switched careers, earning over $250,000 while securing a home deposit—despite facing hurdles from banks.

New Zealand, March 17, 2025:

Layla Kelly, a former banking professional of seven years, made a bold career move—quitting her stable job to join OnlyFans, citing financial freedom and work-life balance as her primary reasons.

Despite earning a $65,000 salary, Layla struggled with paycheck-to-paycheck living in New Zealand’s high-cost economy. She launched her OnlyFans account at the end of her maternity leave, quickly turning her modest income into a staggering $250,000—allowing her to save for a six-figure house deposit.

Why She Left Banking

Speaking to news.com.au, Layla said:

“I didn't want to be chained to a corporate desk anymore. I wanted a better work-life balance, and I wanted more time with my family and freedom to increase my income.”

She also noted that owning a home seemed impossible while working at the bank, given the rising cost of living.

Bank Denies Home Loan Over Her Industry

Despite her financial success, Layla faced an unexpected challenge—a major bank refused to assess her home loan application due to her industry.

“We had an incredible broker who went out to bat for us, and most banks were great, but one wouldn’t even assess our application because of the industry I'm in,” she explained.

Calling the decision hypocritical, Layla pointed out that banks lend to businesses in gambling and vaping but refused to recognize her legitimate earnings.

She eventually secured her first home loan, but described the experience as "unfair," especially for first-time buyers.

A Changing Perspective on Unconventional Careers

Layla's journey reflects a larger shift—as traditional employment struggles to keep up with the rising cost of living, alternative income sources like OnlyFans are empowering individuals financially.

With increased earnings, flexibility, and homeownership, Layla proves that career choices beyond corporate jobs can also offer stability and success.
