Beijing | June 29, 2025 – Social media was abuzz earlier this month after sensational rumours alleged that a Xiaomi director named Feng Debing was involved in over 200 extramarital affairs, using “sugar daddy contracts” to lure women. The viral scandal even suggested he had fathered up to seven children with various women and had been exposed by his own wife.

But now, Xiaomi has broken its silence — and it turns out the truth is far less glamorous and far more mundane.

According to Xiaomi’s Public Relations General Manager Wang Hua, the man at the center of the controversy was never a director. In fact, he was a kitchen worker employed briefly in 2016 at one of the company’s canteens. He worked as a vegetable cutter and was fired within two months for frequent absenteeism.

The story initially gained traction via Dimsum Daily, which linked Feng to a scandal involving BDSM clauses, financial contracts, and sexual arrangements with women, including international students. Allegedly, these “maintenance contracts” promised monthly payouts up to 100,000 yuan (₹11.5 lakh).

Reports claimed that the scandal came to light when his wife discovered incriminating material on his phone.

Photos of Feng circulated widely on Weibo, but Xiaomi’s official clarification has since shut down the claim that he held any executive post.
