Ashish Nehra says,”Rinku Singh has opened everyone’s eyes”

While there is no doubt that rising left-handed batter Rinku Singh has established himself as a contender for a spot in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 squad, former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra stated ahead of the fifth and final Twenty20 International between Australia and India that he will still face many challenges even though he has put everyone under pressure.
This Sunday is the fifth and final Twenty20 International between Australia and India. Lead by the top-ranked T20I batsman Suryakumar Yadav, India has won this series 3-1. The ‘finisher’ Rinku has been one of the biggest assets for India in the series.

Expert Ashish Nehra discussed Rinku Singh’s chances of making the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup as well as the reasons why India’s pace bowlers have conceded so many runs on JioCinema’s India vs. Australia – 5th T20I preview show. Excerpts: “Rinku Singh is unquestionably a strong candidate to be named in India’s T20 World Cup team. However, there are still many contenders for the spot he is vying for, and the World Cup is still far off. You can have a look at Tilak Varma and wicketkeeper batsman Jitesh Sharma. We need to talk about the positions that Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shreyas Iyer will occupy on the pitch.

Thus, we need to determine how many spots are left in the squad of fifteen. He has, however, undoubtedly opened everyone’s eyes and placed pressure on everyone. However, there is still a long way to go. The IPL and the trip to South Africa are coming up,” Nehra stated.
Rinku has scored 174 runs at an average of 87.00 and a strike rate of over 197 in nine T20Is thus far in five innings, with a best score of 46. With 88 balls faced thus far, he has struck 16 fours and 11 sixes, demonstrating his impressive hitting ability. By himself, he has amassed 130 runs through fours and sixes.

Regarding the bowling aspect of things, Nehra stated that both sides’ bowlers have let up a lot of runs thus far in the series. India has benefited greatly from pacer Mukesh Kumar’s pinpoint yorkers in this scenario, particularly in the death overs.
“A lot of the bowlers have changed, and the conditions were different for the first three matches. You have rested your more seasoned bowlers, such as Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj. Nehra stated, “Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar are relatively new to the world of international cricket.

“After that, we witnessed the first three matches feature over 200 runs scored. Therefore, it’s not just the Indian bowlers who have given up a lot of runs; the Australian bowlers have also done so. India has benefited greatly from Mukesh Kumar’s actions in these circumstances. He said, “It’s been amazing how he’s bowled with wet balls, executed yorkers, and bowled in the dying overs.”
