Ahead of the highly anticipated five-match Test series against India, England’s skipper Ben Stokes discussed his recent knee surgery, emphasizing that surgery is always the last resort in dealing with injuries. Stokes mentioned that surgeries can have varying outcomes, sometimes leading to successful recoveries, but other times causing setbacks and even potentially ending careers.
He pointed out the importance of weight management in the recovery process, stating that having less weight to support on the knee can result in a quicker recovery. Stokes’ recent surgery on his left knee took place at the end of November, following the ODI World Cup, to ensure his fitness for the Test series against India.
England’s head coach, Brendon McCullum, expressed confidence in Stokes’ fitness, describing him as “stripping fit” and highlighting his exceptional work ethic. The upcoming Test series between India and England is scheduled to begin on January 25 in Hyderabad, with subsequent matches to be held in Vizag, Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala.
The England Test squad for the India series includes Ben Stokes as the captain, along with players like James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, and others.
