Held at the M.P. State Shooting Academy in Bhopal, the 66th National Shooting Championship Competitions (NSCC) for Pistol Nationals concluded on Thursday. Here, Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) shooter Naveen won both individual and team gold in men’s 10m air Pistol Nationals. The army man finished ahead of Vivek of Uttar Pradesh (244.0) and Ujjwal Malik of the Navy (221.3) with a final score of 246.2. Sagar Dangi, Bishal Shrestha, and Naveen combined for 1742 points in the team competition, surpassing the Navy’s 1737 points. Bronze went to Haryana.
Nishant Rawat, an Army shooter, also achieved the highest qualification score, shooting 589 to tie the national record. Naveen shot the same score as four other shooters, but because he had more inner 10s—25—than the other four, he managed to secure the eighth and final qualifying spot with a score of 581.
Men’s 10m air pistol competition featured 1213 shooters in total.
