(PKL) Pro Kabaddi League 10 action will now be in Pune, where the Haryana Steelers and the home team Puneri Paltan will play their third leg of the season on Friday at the Balewadi Sports Complex. With two decisive victories in as many games, the Haryana team is off to a strong start. Co-captain Mohit Nandal summarised the Bengaluru leg and provided an explanation of the team’s success.
“After losing the opening game, we have won two straight games, which has given the team more confidence. The players are driven, and our combinations are coming together nicely. Every player is interacting with the other players effectively. Before the team’s fourth game of the season, Mohit declared, “The best part of the season so far has been the plans that are being devised by the coaches.”
After losing to UP Yoddhas 57-27 in Ahmedabad to start the season, the Steelers triumphed 38-32 against the Bengaluru Bulls and 35-33 against Dabang Delhi in Bengaluru. After the first game, Mohit went deeper into the areas where the team worked and provided a brief overview of the discussions that took place in the dressing room after the outcome.
“The first game was a huge loss for us. The team’s spirit took a hit. However, our coach Manpreet Singh informed us that it was only the first game and that creating effective combinations always takes time. Due to the large number of youthful players on the team, the coach went over the strategies with each of us individually, and we trained as a result. The outcomes are self-evident,” he declared.
With 21 points, Siddharth Desai has emerged as the campaign’s star; Jaideep and Mohit, with 10 and 8 points, respectively, have once again been the backbone of Haryana’s defence.
Overall, we had a pretty successful Bengaluru leg. Our main takeaway is that player communication is crucial. We can always put ourselves in winning situations if we can play as a team, Mohit said.
Playing in front of the home team’s supporters is always a difficult proposition, but Mohit stated that his team isn’t concerned about the crowd’s reaction and will instead concentrate on their own game. “We’ll play Puneri Paltan in front of their home supporters. We’ve already talked about our plans, and teams will try to play according to the strategies that have been discussed. We are optimistic about the outcome of the game,” he concluded.
