hili Birua helps India to defeat Nepal by 4 runs, takes 2-0 lead
Women’s Bilateral Blind Cricket Series: In the inaugural Women’s Bilateral Series for the Blind, India defeated Nepal by four runs on Tuesday at the Police Gymkhana Cricket Ground, despite Binita Pun’s fifty being in vain once more. After a slow start, India reached 149/6 in the 20 overs allotted and held Nepal to 145/6. Despite hitting 56 runs in just 47 balls, Binita was unable to help Nepal cross the finish line. In the inaugural Women’s Bilateral T20 Series for the Blind, which consists of five matches, India has a 2-0 lead.
Nepal had a poor start when chasing 150, scoring 38/2 in 6 overs. But Binita carried on from where she left off the other day, keeping the scoreboard running. Following a 72-run partnership between Bimala Rai and Binita, Nepal scored 110/3 in the fifteenth over.
Nepal was soon found reeling at 132/6 as they continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. The chase, which had appeared to be fairly simple, now appeared to be a far-off dream. Nepal needed to win by 10 runs in the final 6 balls, but they were unable to reach the goal. Because of her excellent bowling and her ability to hold the 10 runs in the final over of the innings, Jhili Birua was declared the player of the match.
India won the toss and chose to bat, scoring 149/6 earlier in the day. India got off to a slow start thanks to Magupallu Satyavathi, but in the final overs, Ravanni and Sushma Patel ensured that India reached a respectable total.
Nepal will now prepare for tomorrow’s third Twenty20 match in an attempt to salvage the T20 Series.
