Iowa [US], November 21: Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been arrested by US law enforcement and is currently detained at the Pottawattamie County Jail in Iowa, according to an update from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In an official statement, ICE confirmed Bishnoi’s detention but declined to share additional details. The arrest adds a significant development to ongoing investigations into Bishnoi’s alleged involvement in multiple criminal activities.
Earlier on Monday, the US State Department refrained from commenting on the potential deportation of Anmol Bishnoi. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated, “It would be appropriate for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the FBI to address this matter, as it falls under their jurisdiction.”
This arrest follows Anmol Bishnoi’s recent detention in California by the US Immigration Department. Reports suggest discussions have already taken place between FBI officials and Indian security agencies regarding his extradition.
Anmol Bishnoi is a wanted figure in India, linked to organized crime. He is accused of involvement in the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence and the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique.
In October, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced a reward of ₹10 lakh for Bishnoi’s capture. He is charged in two NIA cases registered in 2022 and is also wanted in connection with a shooting incident at Salman Khan’s residence earlier this year.
The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has initiated extradition proceedings to bring Bishnoi back to India, where he is expected to face trial for multiple criminal offenses.
This case highlights ongoing international cooperation between US and Indian authorities to tackle organized crime. The FBI, ICE, and Indian security agencies are actively coordinating efforts to ensure Bishnoi’s deportation, signaling a significant step in addressing cross-border criminal activities.
Bishnoi’s arrest marks an important chapter in the pursuit of justice for high-profile crimes, including those targeting prominent figures like Salman Khan.
