Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit’s appointment as the new vice-chancellor of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) did not go well with BJP MP from Pilibhit, Varun Gandhi who called the appointment “Mediocre” and “atrocious”. He also pointed out multiple grammatical mistakes’ in her press release, thanking the Prime Minister and Minister of Education for appointing her as the first woman VC of Jawahar Lal Nehru University.
Some old Twitter posts claiming to be of Ms Pandit has come under the spotlight for their malicious content and have drawn criticism from all directions.
Santishree Pandit is the university’s first female Vice-Chancellor. She succeeds M Jagadesh Kumar, who led the flagship university during a contentious stint and will now lead the University Grants Commission.
