Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Returns In All Its Glory, Celebrates Diversity and Glamour

October 16, 2024: In a moment that felt both nostalgic and new, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show made a bold return after a six-year hiatus. Streaming live from New York City, the iconic lingerie brand brought back its famously daring runway, complete with beloved supermodels and a splash of new faces. With live performances from stars like Cher, Blackpink’s Lisa, and rising artist Tyla, the evening delivered the high-octane glamour and bombshell beauty that once defined the show.

The much-anticipated comeback follows years of controversy surrounding the brand, which was criticised for its lack of diversity and accusations of a toxic work environment involving senior executives.

In response, Victoria’s Secret vowed to reform its image, adopting a more inclusive approach to reflect the modern consumer’s demand for diversity and empowerment, much like trailblazing brands Savage X Fenty and SKIMS.

A Star-Studded Cast of Models
Returning to the runway were some of Victoria’s Secret’s most famous faces, including Tyra Banks—marking her return after two decades—Adriana Lima, who holds the record for most shows walked, and longtime favorites such as Joan Smalls, Alessandra Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel, Behati Prinsloo, Liu Wen, Jasmine Tookes, and Barbara Palvin. Alongside these veterans, superstars Irina Shayk, Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid, Imaan Hammam, and Anok Yai also graced the runway.

Making their highly anticipated debuts were icons like Kate Moss, who wowed the crowd in a black lingerie set with lace details, and Carla Bruni, Ashley Graham, Paloma Elsesser, and Lila Moss, further underscoring the show’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

A Reinvention of a Cultural Phenomenon
This runway event, Victoria’s Secret’s first since 2018, signaled the brand’s reinvention. The new show aims to reflect the evolving beauty standards of 2024 while retaining the glamour, fun, and wings the brand is known for. In August, a Victoria’s Secret representative told People, “The 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will deliver precisely what our customers have been asking for—the glamour, runway, fashion, fun, wings, entertainment—all through a powerful, modern lens reflecting who we are today.”

Adding to the excitement, the runway looks will be available for purchase immediately through the brand’s website, app, in select stores, and via their Amazon Fashion store.

With a fresh all-women performance lineup and a dazzling showcase of lingerie and wings, the revamped Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is here to reclaim its cultural relevance, promising a spectacle that embraces beauty in all its forms.
