Virat Kohli Announces New Management Team, Prepares for BGT Amid Mixed Season

New Delhi, November 8, 2024: Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has announced a fresh start with a new management team, Sporting Beyond, just ahead of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. The first Test of the highly anticipated series kicks off on November 22 in Perth.

Virat shared the news on social media platform X, writing, “I am excited to announce a fresh start with Sporting Beyond, my new team, who have been working with me for a while now.” Kohli added that the team’s values of “transparency, integrity, and love for sport” resonate with his own. “This opens a new chapter for me as I look forward to my partnership with my new team, who will be working with me on all of my business interests,” he stated.

Kohli’s Performance Ahead of the BGT

The announcement comes as Kohli faces a challenging season, with recent performances in the home series against Bangladesh and New Zealand falling short of his usual standards. Across five Tests in these series, Kohli managed to score only 192 runs in 10 innings, averaging 21.33 with a single half-century. India’s 0-3 loss to New Zealand marked a historic first — their first-ever whitewash in a three-match or more home Test series in 12 years.

In 2024 overall, Kohli has amassed 250 runs in 12 innings across six Test matches, with an average of 22.72 and a highest score of 70. These numbers reflect a mixed season for the 36-year-old, known for his consistency and strong performances.

Kohli’s Stats in the Ongoing WTC Cycle

Despite his recent struggles, Kohli’s overall contributions to the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 remain commendable. He has accumulated 561 runs in nine Tests at an average of 37.40, with a century and three fifties, and a best score of 121. Kohli will look to build on these stats and regain momentum in the Border-Gavaskar series.

A New Chapter with Sporting Beyond

The new partnership with Sporting Beyond signals Kohli’s intention to realign his business and sports interests. The management team is expected to oversee his brand engagements, sponsorships, and other business ventures, aligning with Kohli’s vision for transparency and integrity.

As Kohli prepares to face off against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, fans are hopeful that the fresh management and upcoming series will mark a resurgence for one of India’s greatest cricketing icons.
