Virat Kohli Dedicates T20 World Cup Win to Anushka Sharma


Star cricketer Virat Kohli recently celebrated India’s T20 World Cup triumph by dedicating the victory to his wife, actress Anushka Sharma. After the match, Kohli took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message along with a sun-kissed photo of the couple. In the picture, Virat and Anushka, affectionately known as “Virushka,” are seen smiling joyfully. Virat’s caption read, “None of this would remotely be possible without you my love. You keep me humble, grounded, and you always say it how it is with absolute honesty. I couldn’t be more grateful for you. This victory is as much yours as it’s mine. Thank you and I love you for being YOU @anushkasharma.”

The emotional post quickly garnered attention, with numerous fans and celebrities responding with their well-wishes. Music sensation Badshah commented, “And then he does this,” while actress Athiya Shetty added a heart emoji. Shibani Akhtar expressed her admiration with “you two.” Despite not being physically present during the thrilling final against South Africa, Anushka supported her husband virtually, as always.

Anushka reciprocated the love with her own social media posts, celebrating the team’s victory. She wrote, “Our daughter’s biggest concern was if all the players had someone to hug them after she saw them cry on TV….. Yes, my darling, they were hugged by 1.5 billion people. Adding to the emotional moment, Virat announced his retirement from T20Is following the victory. His performance in the final match was exceptional, scoring 76 runs off 59 balls, including six fours and two sixes, earning him the ‘Player of the Match’ award. Throughout the tournament, Virat accumulated 151 runs in eight innings, with a strike rate of 112.68, finishing as the highest run-scorer in the history of the T20 World Cup with 1,292 runs at an average of 58.72.

In his T20I career, Virat played 125 matches, scoring 4,188 runs at an average of 48.69 and a strike rate of 137.04, including one century and 38 fifties. His best score was 122*, making him the second-highest run-scorer in T20I history. During the final match, Virat and Axar Patel’s partnership propelled India to a total of 176/7, leading to a thrilling 7-run victory and India’s second T20 World Cup title. This victory also marked India’s first ICC title since the Champions Trophy in 2013.

Virat and Anushka’s love story, cherished by fans worldwide, began with their wedding on December 11, 2017, in Italy. The couple welcomed their daughter Vamika on January 11, 2021, and recently announced the birth of their son Akaay on February 15, 2024.
