Gujarat Titans’ left-arm seamer Spencer Johnson expressed strong confidence that his team would triumph in their next match against Rajasthan Royals. The clash is scheduled as the 24th match of IPL 2024 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday.
Despite the challenging odds, with Rajasthan Royals leading the table after winning all four of their initial matches, Johnson remains optimistic about GT’s prospects. “It’s always tough playing at the Royals’ home ground as they have a perfect record so far; however, we are prepared and aiming to end their winning streak,” Johnson remarked during a pre-match press conference.
He acknowledged the difficulty of securing wins on rival turf, adding, “Winning away from home is tough, but securing a couple of points here would boost our confidence significantly for the upcoming home games.”
The Gujarat team began their 2024 campaign with a narrow six-run victory over Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad but faced setbacks in subsequent matches. They experienced a significant 63-run defeat to Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium and also fell to Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings in their recent outings. Despite these challenges, Johnson and his team are gearing up to turn the tide in Jaipur, motivated by their earlier successes and the potential to climb back up the leaderboard.
