Shafali Verma, the talented Indian opener, has shared her heartfelt feelings about representing her country, describing it as an “emotional and happiest feeling.” Since her international debut in 2019, Verma has quickly established herself as one of India’s premier openers across all formats.

In an interview with Star Sports, she reflected on her journey, stating, “It is a big thing for me, from where I have come to play for our country. Wearing the India T-shirt is quite emotional and the happiest feeling as well. Right now, I am thinking about how good I can do for my team and for my country. I have got the T-shirt, but I am focused on how I can carry it and how proud I can make them feel.”

Shafali is set to play in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE, starting on October 3. India will begin their campaign against New Zealand on October 4 and face arch-rivals Pakistan on October 6. Having reached the semifinals in the previous edition, the Indian team is placed in Group A alongside Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
