October 12, 2024: Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant stirred up speculation by asking his fans on social media whether he would be picked by any franchise if he entered the auction.
Pant posted, “If I go to the auction, will I be sold or not, and for how much?” This tweet quickly gained attention, fueling discussions about his potential future in the league.
Pant’s return to IPL 2024 was a major event after his 14-month recovery from a car accident in December 2022. Despite the lengthy hiatus, Pant delivered strong performances, appearing in 13 matches and amassing 446 runs, making him the leading run-scorer for Delhi Capitals in the season.
Having joined the Delhi-based franchise in 2016, Pant has been a key player and was appointed captain in 2021. His question about the auction may have been a playful interaction with fans, but it also sparked curiosity about the upcoming decisions surrounding player retention and the team’s strategy for IPL 2025.
Pant is also gearing up for India’s upcoming Test series against New Zealand, starting on October 16, 2024. He will be part of a 15-member squad that includes key players like Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Virat Kohli, and others, with the series concluding on November 1, 2024.
