Celebrities in attendance on the opening night of the third edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia included Will Smith and Johnny Depp.
The event marked the premiere of ‘HWJN,’ a film adapted from the best-selling Saudi fantasy novel by Ibraheem Abbas.
According to a summary on the festival’s website, the movie “takes viewers into a kingdom of the imagination where anything seems possible” and “is set in a world where djinn have crossed a traditional barrier and are living invisibly among humans.”

Smith, who is scheduled to speak on Saturday, was also spotted wearing a dark black suit and black dress shoes when he arrived at the event. ‘The Hollywood Reporter’ claims that he was approached by numerous fans requesting selfies, so he took as many as he could on the red carpet.
Sofia Vergara did not walk the red carpet, but she did speak on stage during the event’s opening ceremony. Her visit was timed to coincide with the premiere of a new trailer for her upcoming Netflix limited series, Griselda.
Mahlagha Jaberi saw “HWJN” at the Red Sea International Film Festival 2023’s opening night.
Among the guests was Sharon Stone.
Actor Hande Ercel from Turkey was also present at the special occasion.
A multi-day event, according to the festival’s website, is “for film lovers, filmmakers, and the global film industry.”
“Watch the future’s biggest hits before they’re released on theatres. With carefully chosen retrospectives and restored classics, rediscover old favourites. Discover new things with experimental and short film strands, and delve into immersive audio-visual worlds,” the website continues.
People reported that the international festival will run through December 9.
