With the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 just around the corner, the ICC has unveiled affordable ticket pricing, starting at just five dirhams (approximately ₹114), with free entry for those under 18. This initiative aims to encourage greater audience participation and leave a lasting legacy for the tournament, which will be hosted in the UAE for the first time.
To celebrate the announcement, the ICC showcased a stunning laser display on the Burj Khalifa, highlighting the tournament’s global significance. Geoff Allardice, ICC Chief Executive, emphasized the diversity of the UAE, which makes it a “home World Cup” for all 10 participating teams. He expressed excitement about making the event accessible to fans of all ages.
The tournament, featuring 10 teams divided into two groups, will begin on October 3, with the opening match between Bangladesh and Scotland in Sharjah. Teams will compete in a round-robin format, with the top two from each group advancing to the knockout stages. The semi-finals will take place on October 17 and October 18, with the final scheduled for October 20 in Dubai.
India’s squad, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, will start their campaign against New Zealand on October 4, with a highly anticipated match against Pakistan on October 6.
