Gulf nations alarmed as Iran strikes escalate amid widening regional conflict
March 7, 2026: The conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States is intensifying, with Gulf nations increasingly affected by missile and drone strikes. In response to the escalating situation, the Arab League has called an emergency meeting of foreign ministers scheduled for tomorrow. The meeting was proposed by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, with support from Oman, Jordan and Egypt to address the growing regional crisis.
Explosions were reported in Dubai after suspected Iranian strikes near Dubai International Airport, prompting authorities to temporarily halt flight operations. Several aircraft were diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport, while Emirates airline suspended flights until further notice. Reports indicate that Iran has been using short- and medium-range missiles to target locations across Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates.
Tehran maintains that the attacks are aimed at US military bases in the region, but civilian infrastructure and residential areas have also reportedly been affected. The upcoming Arab League meeting is expected to focus on diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and prevent further strikes on Gulf states. However, with both Washington and Tehran taking firm positions, the chances of an immediate resolution remain uncertain.
