Air force chiefs hold talks on JF 17 sale and defence cooperation
January 8, 2026: The air force chiefs of Bangladesh and Pakistan held talks in Islamabad on a possible defence pact that includes the sale of JF 17 Thunder fighter aircraft to Dhaka. The discussions were held between Pakistan Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Bangladesh Air Chief Hasan Mahmood Khan.
Pakistan assured Bangladesh of fast track delivery of Super Mushshak trainer aircraft along with training and long term technical support. The meeting signals growing defence cooperation between the two countries and comes amid renewed diplomatic engagement.
The talks followed recent high level exchanges including visits by Pakistani officials to Dhaka. Both sides have discussed expanding cooperation in trade investment aviation and defence while also exploring greater connectivity and people to people exchanges to strengthen bilateral relations.
