Conservative MP calls on the UK government to act against Pakistan-based terror groups after the Pahalgam massacre; says India’s response was “measured and necessary.”
May 15, 2025: British Conservative MP Bob Blackman has once again voiced strong support for India’s counter-terror operations, following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 civilians dead. Speaking in the UK Parliament, Blackman directly called out Pakistan for harbouring terrorist organisations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and urged the UK government to take decisive diplomatic action.

“Following the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, India launched Operation Sindoor: precision air-strikes on 9 terrorist bases,” Blackman said in the House of Commons. “As peace talks continue, I asked what steps the Foreign Secretary is taking to ensure these terrorist bases are removed from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.”

His remarks were an implicit reference to terror outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba, whose front group The Resistance Front claimed responsibility for the April 22 massacre.
Blackman also posted a video of his remarks on X (formerly Twitter), reiterating his firm stance against state-sponsored terrorism emanating from Pakistani territory.
Responding to Blackman’s concerns, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy called the Pahalgam incident “horrific” and condemned the terrorist attack in strong terms. “We will continue to work with close partners to deal with these terrorist threats,” Lammy stated. “We recognise that both India and Pakistan need international support to ensure a long-lasting and peaceful resolution.”
This isn’t the first time Blackman has spoken out. On April 29, he had slammed the Pahalgam attack as a “coordinated and systematic massacre” that targeted non-Muslim civilians, urging the UK government to “fully back India’s efforts to neutralise such threats.”
