Suspect in custody after early morning gunfire erupts in valet area of Reno resort; investigation ongoing
Authorities in Reno, Nevada, confirmed a police-involved shooting took place early Monday morning outside the Grand Sierra Resort casino, resulting in multiple injuries.
According to Reno Police Department spokesperson Chris Johnson, the shooting was reported around 7:30 a.m. PT in the valet area of the resort. A male suspect is currently in custody and has been hospitalized; his condition remains unknown at this time.

Johnson stated that several individuals were shot, but the extent of their injuries has not yet been released. The total number of victims has also not been confirmed.
A spokesperson for the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office later clarified that the shooting involved a law enforcement officer, but did not specify which agency was involved or what prompted the incident.
Heavy Police Presence and Ongoing Investigation
Multiple emergency vehicles, including ambulances and patrol cars, were seen outside the casino throughout the morning as authorities cordoned off the area. Police have asked residents to stay away from the Grand Sierra Resort while the investigation continues.
