Chinese Police Dog Fuzai Loses Bonus for Sleeping on Job,’ Internet Demands Justice

January 27, 2025: A Chinese police dog named Fuzai has caught the attention of netizens after losing its year-end bonus due to “indiscipline” at work, according to a report in the South China Morning Post (SCMP). Fuzai, a Corgi, joined the police dog training base in Weifang, Shandong province, in January 2024, and quickly became an internet sensation. Despite an impressive record, his recent antics—sleeping on the job and urinating in his food bowl—led to the docking of his bonus.

The Weifang Public Security Bureau, which operates the social media account “Corgi Police Dog Fuzai and Its Comrades,” shared a playful video of Fuzai’s performance review. In the video, an officer praises Fuzai for passing the Level 4 assessment for police dogs and successfully completing security tasks. However, the officer humorously criticizes Fuzai for his recent behavior, confiscating his snacks and toys as a penalty while leaving him with only a red flower.

The video, which has gone viral, sparked widespread reactions on Chinese social media. Users expressed sympathy and humorously demanded that Fuzai’s bonus be reinstated. Comments ranged from “Poor Fuzai worked hard all year; he deserves his bonus!” to “It peed in its own bowl, not in its boss’s—let’s forgive him!”

Following the online outcry, the social media account posted a follow-up video showing that Fuzai received a generous Lunar New Year gift package, reassuring fans that the penalty was only temporary.
