July 10, 2025– Former US President Donald Trump has once again criticized the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, calling it “the most embarrassing moment in the history of our country.” Speaking during a cabinet meeting, Trump sharply targeted former military leaders and decisions made during the chaotic exit in 2021.

According to TOLO News, Trump directed particular criticism at General Mark Milley, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, over the abandonment of US military equipment and the loss of the Bagram Airbase.

“They left all that equipment behind… every screw, every bolt, every nail should’ve been taken out. Milley said it’s cheaper to leave a $150 million plane than fly it to Pakistan or India. That’s when I knew something was wrong,” Trump said.

🔍 Bagram Airbase and Strategic Losses

Trump emphasized the strategic significance of Bagram Airbase, claiming it’s now under Chinese control—a statement denied by Afghanistan’s current leadership.

“Bagram is one of the most powerful runways in the world, thick concrete and seal… and just an hour away from where China makes its nuclear weapons,” he added.

🔎 Experts Warn Against US Re-entry

Despite Trump’s harsh criticism, security analysts warn that any return of US military presence in Afghanistan would face intense local resistance.

“Afghans will never tolerate foreign troops again. The US should reconsider any such policy,” said Yousuf Amin Zazai, a military expert, to TOLO News.
