No casualties reported as Kuwait moves swiftly to secure key refinery after second attack in weeks

April 3, 2026: A major fire broke out at Kuwait’s Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery after a drone strike targeted the facility early Friday, intensifying concerns over the safety of critical energy infrastructure in the Gulf. According to the Kuwait News Agency, multiple operational units were affected, prompting an immediate emergency response.

The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation confirmed that firefighting teams acted swiftly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading. Authorities said no injuries were reported, and all necessary measures were taken to ensure worker safety and protect the refinery. This marks the second such incident in recent weeks, following a similar drone attack on March 20 that also caused damage but no casualties.

The latest strike comes amid rising tensions in the region, shortly after Donald Trump warned Iran of potential attacks on its infrastructure. The development also follows recent escalations involving strikes on key energy sites, including Iran’s South Pars gas field, highlighting growing risks to oil and gas facilities across the Gulf.
