May 07, 2025: In the aftermath of the Indian Armed Forces’ precision strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor‘, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar engaged in crucial diplomatic outreach, holding conversations with the foreign ministers of Spain, France, Germany, Japan, and Qatar. The discussions focused on India’s firm yet measured response to cross-border terrorism following the Pahalgam terror attack.
Jaishankar began by speaking with Spain’s Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares, highlighting India’s strategic and restrained approach. “Discussed India’s firm and measured response to cross-border terrorism,” he wrote on X.
He also held a joint telephonic discussion with France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot and Germany’s Johann Wadephul, expressing gratitude for their support. “Appreciated their solidarity and support in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Discussed ensuring zero tolerance for terrorism,” Jaishankar stated.
With Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya, Jaishankar appreciated Japan’s strong condemnation of the April 22 terror incident and outlined India’s steps to dismantle cross-border terror infrastructure.
In his conversation with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Jaishankar discussed India’s “targeted and measured” actions aimed at deterring future acts of terrorism.
These diplomatic efforts followed India’s successful execution of Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the brutal Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 innocent lives. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed that nine terror sites were eliminated, with strict measures taken to avoid civilian casualties.
Col Sofiya Qureshi presented video evidence of the strikes on terror hubs including Muridke—linked to the 2008 Mumbai attacks—and camps in Sialkot and Kotli, PoJK.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in a press briefing, condemned the Pahalgam attack as an act of extreme barbarity meant to disrupt peace in Kashmir. He reaffirmed that India’s strikes were precise, non-escalatory, and strictly against terror infrastructure.
