World leaders, including Hamid Karzai, Mohamed Nasheed, and Denis Alipov, honor the legacy of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, highlighting his contributions to global diplomacy and India’s progress.

New Delhi, December 27: The demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh, India’s former Prime Minister, has sparked an outpouring of tributes from global leaders, highlighting his unparalleled contributions to diplomacy, economics, and international relations.

Afghanistan’s Heartfelt Tribute

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai described Dr. Singh as one of India’s most illustrious sons and a steadfast friend of Afghanistan.

“India has lost one of its most illustrious sons. Dr. Manmohan Singh was an unwavering ally and friend to the people of Afghanistan. I profoundly mourn his passing and extend my deepest condolences to his family, the government, and the people of India. May his soul find eternal peace,” Karzai wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Maldives Remembers a Fatherly Figure

Former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dr. Singh, recalling him as a benevolent father figure and a good friend to the Maldives.

“So sad to hear Manmohan Singh has passed. I always found him a delight to work with, and like a benevolent father figure. He was a good friend of the Maldives,” Nasheed shared on X.

Russia Acknowledges a Stalwart Diplomat

Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, paid tribute to Dr. Manmohan Singh, emphasizing his significant contributions to strengthening Indo-Russian ties.

“It is a moment of poignant sorrow and grief for India and for Russia. Dr. Manmohan Singh’s contribution to our bilateral ties was immeasurable. His suave demeanor was always endearing, as unquestionable was his expertise as an economist and his commitment to the progress of India,” Alipov stated.

A Legacy Beyond Borders

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also honored Dr. Singh’s impactful contributions to India’s economic liberalization and strategic diplomacy, highlighting his role in redefining Indian foreign policy.

Dr. Manmohan Singh, born in 1932 in Punjab, served two consecutive terms as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014. Known as the “Architect of Economic Reforms,” his visionary leadership reshaped India’s economic trajectory and elevated the nation’s global standing.

As the world reflects on Dr. Singh’s enduring legacy, his commitment to integrity, humility, and service remains a guiding light for leaders across nations.
