Report alleges armed, plain-clothed men forcefully took Shahrez Khan, son of Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan. Lahore police, however, state he was arrested in connection with the May 9 violence.
August 22, 2025: Since Shahrez Khan, the nephew of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, was purportedly kidnapped from his house in Lahore, the political attacks on the Khan family seem to have gotten stronger. The Lahore police, on the other hand, have claimed something that doesn’t match what they said before: the arrest was part of the investigation into the violence that happened on May 9, 2023.

Salman Akram Raja wrote on X that “abducted” Shahrez Khan, the son of Khan’s sister Aleema Khan, by armed men in regular clothes. The assailants, who wore Kevlar vests and worked together, broke into Aleema Khan’s house, broke things, harassed her family, and beat up her workers, according to the party’s statement. Sohail Khan, Shahrez’s father, also alleged that five men with masks and guns dragged his kid away.
The DIG Operations Lahore Police told a different account late at night, indicating that Shahrez Khan had been caught. The officer said that the arrest had something to do with the riots and attacks on military bases that happened on May 9, 2023, when Imran Khan was momentarily jailed. The police also warned that he would be taken to court and that “strict legal action is underway against those involved in the May 9 incidents.”
A story says Shahrez Khan and his wife were pulled from a plane at the Lahore airport without permission barely a day before the event. PTI leaders said that Shahrez Khan isn’t involved in politics and have asked the Chief Justice of Pakistan to act quickly and make sure he gets better.
People believe that the supposed kidnapping is part of a bigger plan to go after Imran Khan’s family and followers. Sulaiman and Qasim, the sons of the former prime minister, are residing in another country right now. Reports suggest that they have been informed they can’t call their father and that they could go to jail if they try to get into Pakistan.
