
India Europe Ties Key To Stability
Jaishankar stresses deeper partnership amid global uncertainty
January 8, 2026: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said India is strengthening its relationship with Europe and that closer ties can bring stability to the international economy and global politics. Speaking in Paris after talks with French Foreign Minister Jean Noel Barrot he said Europe remains a vital player in shaping the global order.
Jaishankar noted growing cooperation in areas such as free trade technology semiconductors defence railways and aviation. He said the relationship is poised to move to the next level at a time when India is reassessing global partnerships amid strained ties with the United States.
He also highlighted upcoming visits by European leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Jaishankar said India and France working together is important for stabilising global politics and reinforcing a multipolar world order.
