External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Saturday expressed gratitude to the government of Armenia for assisting in the evacuation of Indian fishermen stranded in Iran amid ongoing regional tensions.
Armenia Facilitates Safe Passage
Jaishankar specifically thanked Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan for enabling the evacuation through Armenian territory, ensuring the safe return of Indian nationals.
In a post on social media platform X, he acknowledged the swift coordination that helped move the fishermen out of the conflict-affected region.
Part Of Larger Evacuation Effort
The evacuation is part of India’s broader mission to bring back its citizens from West Asia as tensions escalate.
So far, more than 550 Indians have been evacuated via Armenia through coordinated diplomatic and logistical operations.
