Embassy warns against filming incident sites as Middle East tensions rise

March 8, 2026: The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi has issued a safety advisory urging Indian nationals in the UAE not to record videos or take photographs of incident sites, particularly locations damaged by projectiles or shrapnel. The embassy also warned citizens against sharing such visuals on digital or social media platforms, noting that authorities could take strict action against individuals who film restricted areas without authorisation. Residents have been asked to follow official warnings and prioritise their safety during any emergency situation.

According to the advisory, people should immediately move to a safe place if they hear warning sirens or emergency alerts and remain there until authorities confirm the area is secure. Citizens have also been advised not to record videos inside airports during arrival or departure. In addition, individuals were urged to inform authorities if they notice suspicious objects or shrapnel nearby and to avoid touching or approaching such items.

The warning comes as tensions in the Middle East escalate following large-scale strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian infrastructure, including oil storage and refining facilities. Footage has shown a massive fire at the Shehran Oil Depot near Tehran, while reports suggest more than 1,300 people have been killed since the attacks began on February 28. Donald Trump has demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender”, while Iran has warned it could target US or Israeli vessels passing through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns about global oil supply disruptions.
