Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri counters Islamabad’s claims by citing photos of terrorists’ funerals attended by Pakistan Army and officials, calling out state-backed support to terror elements.

India has firmly rejected Pakistan’s claim that only civilians were killed in the Indian Air Force’s Operation Sindoor airstrikes, with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri presenting photographic evidence that terrorists — not civilians — were the real casualties.

Addressing the media, Misri displayed images from the funeral of three terrorists — Qari Abdul Malik, Khalid, and Mudassir — killed in Indian strikes on a terror headquarters in Muridke, located roughly 40 km from Lahore. The images showed coffins wrapped in Pakistani flags, being accorded state honours and attended by Pakistan Army personnel, members of the banned Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD), and officials from Pakistan’s civil administration.

“It’s odd that funerals of so-called civilians are conducted with military honours and coffins wrapped in national flags,” Misri remarked, indirectly debunking Pakistan’s “civilian casualties” narrative.
Targeted Precision Under Operation Sindoor
The three slain individuals were eliminated during precision strikes launched by India as part of Operation Sindoor, following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 that killed 26 civilians. The targeted location in Muridke was identified as a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)-linked facility.

The funeral held under tight security in Muridke, reportedly attended by members of banned terror outfits and Pakistan’s bureaucrats, further cements India’s long-standing allegation that terrorists in Pakistan operate with state backing.
India Calls Out Pakistan’s State-Sponsored Terrorism
Vikram Misri reiterated India’s position that the strikes were “measured, proportionate, and focused on disabling terror infrastructure”, and no Pakistani military or civilian facilities were intentionally targeted. Pakistan’s claim of civilian deaths has not been substantiated with any independent evidence.
India’s foreign ministry, in coordination with military officials, has vowed to continue presenting credible intelligence and visual proof to the global community as tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours remain high.
