Nationals urged to stay vigilant amid rising regional tensions

January 16, 2026: Amid an uncertain security situation in the region, the embassies of India, the United States and the United Kingdom have issued fresh advisories urging their nationals to remain cautious and avoid non-essential travel to Israel. The Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv advised Indian citizens currently in Israel to stay vigilant and strictly follow safety guidelines issued by Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command. It also recommended avoiding all non-essential travel to the country and shared emergency helpline details for assistance.

The Indian mission noted that it has been actively updating its database and maintaining contact with Indian nationals, whose numbers in Israel have risen to over 40,000 in recent years. During the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent conflict, the embassy had intensified outreach efforts, encouraging Indians to register with the mission to ensure timely support during emergencies.

Earlier, the US Embassy in Jerusalem issued a security alert asking American citizens to review travel plans and prepare for possible disruptions due to ongoing regional tensions. The UK Foreign Office also updated its advisory, warning British nationals to avoid travel to Israel except for essential reasons, citing the heightened risk of escalation that could lead to unexpected travel and security disruptions.
