Diplomatic confusion grows as regional tensions continue to rise
March 25, 2026: Iran has firmly denied any negotiations with the United States, contradicting claims made by Donald Trump. Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, stated that no direct or indirect talks have taken place so far, calling media reports and US assertions inaccurate.
He added that while no formal negotiations are underway, some “friendly countries” have been engaging both sides through consultations in an effort to reduce tensions and end the conflict. These remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic uncertainty, with conflicting narratives emerging from Washington and Tehran about the status of potential peace efforts.
Meanwhile, Qatar has distanced itself from the conflict, warning against further escalation. Speaking at the United Nations in Geneva, Hind Bint Abdul Rahman Al Muftah stated that targeting nations not directly involved violates international law and threatens regional stability. Qatar reiterated that it has refused to be part of the conflict, even as tensions continue to impact neighbouring countries.
