Riyadh Refinery Strike Marks Major Escalation In Energy War

March 19, 2026: The Middle East conflict has entered its 20th day, intensifying into a full-scale battle over oil and gas infrastructure. Iran launched a major retaliatory strike on Saudi Arabia, targeting a refinery in Riyadh with ballistic missiles. The attack triggered massive explosions and fires, sending thick smoke into the sky, while nearby areas reported significant structural damage.

The escalation follows earlier strikes by Israel and the United States on Iran’s South Pars Gas Field, a critical energy asset. In response, Iran initially hit Ras Laffan Industrial City before expanding its offensive across multiple Gulf energy sites. The latest strike in Riyadh also impacted areas near the Prince Sultan Air Base, a key US-linked military facility, raising concerns over fuel supply disruptions for military operations.

The refinery attack, described as highly precise, turned the facility into a large fire zone, with the impact felt kilometers away. Panic has spread across Riyadh as some residential areas were also affected. With energy infrastructure increasingly in the crosshairs and civilians warned to avoid US-linked sites, the conflict is now posing a serious threat to regional stability and global energy security.
