Missile barrage hits Tel Aviv after Larijani’s death; casualties reported
March 18, 2026: In a sharp escalation, Iran has launched a massive wave of missile and drone attacks on Israel under “Operation True Promise 4,” following the confirmed death of Ali Larijani. The offensive, described as the 61st wave of strikes, involved some of Iran’s most advanced missiles.
Heavy bombardment was reported across key Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv, where cluster munitions caused widespread destruction. Initial reports indicate at least two civilians were killed and over 200 injured, as explosions rocked multiple locations and triggered panic among residents.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the strikes were in retaliation for Larijani’s killing, warning that the attacks reflect a strengthened resolve. Iran also claimed it continues to target Israeli and United States military positions in the region.
Tensions are also rising around the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns about global energy supplies. World leaders, including Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron, have weighed in as fears grow of a broader regional conflict.
With both sides escalating military action and no signs of de-escalation, the crisis continues to deepen, heightening the risk of a prolonged and wider war.
