Fires erupt in Kuwait and Bahrain as Israel intensifies strikes on Tehran
April 1, 2026: The Iran war has taken a dangerous turn after a drone strike targeted fuel storage tanks at Kuwait International Airport, triggering a massive fire. According to Kuwait News Agency, no casualties have been reported, though significant infrastructure damage was confirmed at a facility operated by the Kuwait Aviation Fueling Company. Emergency teams rushed to the site, with authorities stating that the impact was limited to material losses.
In a parallel incident, Bahrain reported a fire at a company facility following what officials described as another Iranian attack. Civil defence teams were deployed, and the interior ministry said all necessary response measures were activated to contain the situation. These developments mark a widening of the conflict across the Gulf region.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces launched a “wide-scale wave” of strikes in Tehran, with Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reporting multiple explosions across the capital. Israel said it targeted infrastructure linked to the Iranian regime, while also confirming that one of its drones was shot down over southern Lebanon.
Amid rising tensions, India has stepped in to manage the economic fallout by capping Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) price hikes for domestic airlines at 25%. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas warned that global disruptions, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, could have otherwise pushed fuel prices up by over 100%.
