June 22, 2025: In a major escalation in the ongoing Israel-Iran war, the United States has launched a powerful and coordinated military strike on key Iranian nuclear sites. The operation, hailed by the Pentagon as an “incredible and overwhelming success,” was authorized by President Donald Trump and targeted Iran’s most critical nuclear enrichment facilities.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, speaking at a Pentagon press briefing, stated:

“This mission was focused, it was powerful, and it was clear. We devastated Iran’s nuclear infrastructure without targeting the Iranian military or civilians.”

The U.S. attack, the largest of its kind in history involving seven B-2 Stealth Bombers and over 125 aircraft, was part of Operation Midnight Hammer. The mission involved precision-guided bunker-busting bombs and Tomahawk cruise missiles launched from a U.S. Navy submarine.

Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan Sites Hit With Devastating Force

The strikes focused on three high-value nuclear locations: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. According to General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Fordow and Natanz facilities were struck with 14 bunker-buster bombs, each weighing 30,000 pounds. The Isfahan site was hit by a barrage of 24 Tomahawk missiles.

Gen. Caine said initial battle damage assessments indicate “extremely severe and possibly irreversible damage” to Iran’s uranium enrichment capabilities.

The B-2 bombers flew a round-trip mission from a U.S. air base near Kansas City, returning safely without encountering enemy fire over Iranian airspace.

Trump Declares ‘Total Destruction’ of Iran’s Nuclear Program

President Trump addressed the nation shortly after the strikes, declaring the mission a “total destruction” of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities.

“Iran’s nuclear facilities are no longer a threat to the world. The United States has demonstrated its resolve. If Iran retaliates, the next wave of strikes will be even more powerful,” said Trump from the White House.

He followed up on Truth Social, writing: “NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE.”

Bipartisan Reaction: GOP Praises, Democrats Warn of Escalation

Republican leaders praised Trump for decisive action. House Speaker Mike Johnson stated,

“This strike reinforces that a nuclear-armed Iran will never be tolerated.”

Meanwhile, Democratic leaders voiced constitutional concerns, criticizing Trump for bypassing Congress.

Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) said the President must appear before Congress to outline strategic goals and prevent the U.S. from entering a prolonged conflict.

“The American people deserve transparency and a clear plan. This action risks broader war in the Middle East,” Warner warned.

What’s Next: Global Uncertainty Over Iran’s Response

As the world waits for Iran’s official response, tensions remain extremely high. Intelligence agencies are on alert for possible Iranian retaliation through direct or proxy attacks.

While the Pentagon stands by the mission’s success, the global community now braces for the fallout of this bold U.S. military action.
