Trinamool Congress alleges major financial deal linked to Humayun Kabir, even as tensions rise in the Middle East following fresh strikes.

April 9, 2026: A political storm has erupted in West Bengal after the Trinamool Congress released a purported sting video allegedly linked to Humayun Kabir. The party claims the footage suggests a ₹1,000 crore financial deal involving senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party, including an advance payment of ₹300 crore. Calling the matter “extremely serious,” the TMC has demanded a thorough investigation, intensifying the political face-off ahead of key elections.

Meanwhile, tensions have escalated in the Middle East after Israel carried out fresh strikes in Lebanon, raising doubts over the ceasefire announced earlier by Donald Trump. While Israel, backed by the United States, maintains that its Lebanon operations are outside the truce, Iran and mediator Pakistan insist that Lebanon is part of the agreement. Several global powers have also called for the ceasefire to be extended to cover the region fully.

Amid the ongoing conflict, Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed that operations against Hezbollah would continue, citing recent strikes that reportedly killed a senior aide to its leadership. Hezbollah, in response, has resumed attacks across the border, escalating hostilities further. With strikes reported in Beirut and southern regions, the fragile ceasefire now faces increasing uncertainty as violence continues to intensify.
