Emmy Winner Blasts President and Supporters, Lamenting Erosion of Civility and Rule of Law in Candid Interview

Jeff Daniels is an Emmy-winning actor and veteran of Hollywood. He’s been very vocal lately on what he thinks America has really lost as a country when Donald Trump became president again. Daniels, who is known for being outspoken about politics, talked about his views on MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace’s “The Best People” podcast. He didn’t just go after the controversial president, whom he called a “snake oil salesman,” but he also openly criticized people who voted for him in the November election.

Daniels said on the show, “We’ve lost decency, civility, and respect for the rule of law. We’ve lost it.” He then talked about a troubling change in social norms: “We have made verbal abuse on the internet normal.” We’ve made bullying commonplace again, even though the awakened generation tried to reverse that. Character and integrity go out the window.

The actor from “Dumb and Dumber” talked more on how unhappy he is with the way things are going in politics right now. “I mean, no one has anything good to say about politicians. They haven’t. Go back to Twain. But we should really choose the best among ourselves. Not the worst of us. He is everything that is wrong with being a person and with America.

Daniels sent a clear message to those who backed Trump’s bid for reelection in the 2024 presidential election: “I hope you’re losing a lot of money if you thought this would be okay.” What are you going to do about it, guys?

During his campaign, President Trump made a lot of big promises, but many of them have not yet been kept. The promise to cut grocery prices was a big one that many families across the country liked, and it definitely had an effect on some people. But as Nicolle Wallace pointed out during their talk, the President’s present policies might potentially hurt his followers more than they help them.

Daniels agreed, saying that the economic effects might be the final wake-up call. “I think that’s what’s going to do it at the end of the day,” he said. “Wait a minute, how much is the food bill? $180 more? I can’t acquire that car we need unless I pay $8,000 more. What? Who should I blame for that? “Who do I talk to about that?” One individual.”

The actor from “Newsroom” stressed how these changes in the economy affect regular Americans in real ways. “At the end of the day, it would be about the price of eggs, whether it went up or down, because that’s what he said he was going to do to lower the price of eggs or my grocery bill.” I think that still matters, at least in the middle of the country. “The money matters.”

Daniels also talked about what he thinks could have happened if Kamala Harris had won the election in November in another part of the episode. “She would have been a good choice.” “I don’t care what they say,” he said, making a strong comparison. “Because she would have done what Lincoln did.”

He went on to say that Lincoln “surrounded himself with people who would argue with him, not people who would kneel and say, ‘Yeah, more tariffs, sir, more.’ It’s the craziness of King George and the decline of the Republican Party. Daniels’ words make it very clear how worried he is about the direction the country is going.
