
Largest Volcano of Eurasia Errupts After Wednesday's Mega Quake in Russia's Kamchatka-Watch
July 31, 2025: While the Russian government and residents of Kamchatka area are still struggling with the aftermath of the 8.8 magnitude Mega Quake that caused major destruction of property and land, yet the destruction that could have been caused remains largely minimal and limited.
This is especially true, after tensed Tsunami warnings in US, Alaska, Japan.

But, in a major development, Klyuchevskaya Sopka, Eurasia’s largest volcano, erupted yesterday, shortly after the massive quake.
Yesterday’s eruption included emission of ash and lava apart from gases that were released in the air. There were also reports of a powerful glow that suggested heat and fire below causing explosions within.

The explosions and the eruptions have prompted a closure of all of the surrounding areas for visitors.
Warnings for and by airlines have also been issued.
Klyuchevskaya Sopka is situated in the Ust-Kamchatsky district, roughly 30 km from the settlement of Klyuchi. It is known as one of the highest volcanoes in the world, located about 450 km north of the regional capital, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
