February 15, 2026: Mamata Banerjee sent flowers and sweets to Tarique Rahman following the decisive victory of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Bangladesh’s 13th parliamentary elections. The gifts were delivered to Rahman’s political office in Gulshan and received by party representatives. A day earlier, Banerjee had congratulated Rahman and the people of Bangladesh in a post on X, extending advance greetings for Ramzan and expressing hope for peace and prosperity.

In her message, Banerjee conveyed heartfelt congratulations to “Tarique Bhai,” his party and supporters for the significant electoral mandate. She also voiced optimism that relations between India and Bangladesh would remain strong. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi similarly congratulated Rahman in a social media post, praising him for leading the BNP to a commanding victory in the polls.

According to results announced by the Election Commission, the BNP and its allies secured 212 of the 297 declared seats in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections. The alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami won 77 seats, while Islami Andolan Bangladesh and independent candidates claimed the remaining seats. Polling concluded on Thursday, with results released the following day.
