Donald Roy Pettit, a 70-year-old chemical engineer and veteran astronaut, has spent over 500 days in space across multiple ISS missions since being selected by NASA in 1996. Known for his passion for astrophotography, Pettit often shares stunning images of Earth’s landscapes, auroras, and cityscapes from orbit. Currently serving as a flight engineer on the Expedition 72 crew, Pettit is dedicating six months aboard the ISS to scientific research and maintenance tasks while continuing to capture breathtaking shots of Earth from space.
