Tensions in the Middle East have reached a critical flashpoint as Iran issued a chilling warning on Monday, stating that any attempt by the United States to enforce a naval blockade would jeopardize the security of every port in the region. The statement comes just hours before the 5:30 PM (Iran time) deadline set by US President Donald Trump for the commencement of a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

The spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters—the command center for Iran’s armed forces—emphasized that maritime security must be “collective.” According to a report by the Mehr news agency, the spokesperson cautioned that targeting Iranian maritime interests would trigger a ripple effect across neighboring countries. “If the security of Iranian ports is threatened, no port in the Persian Gulf or Gulf of Oman would remain secure,” the official warned.

This fresh rhetoric escalates a standoff that has already sent global oil prices surging above $100 per barrel. The US move follows a breakdown in ceasefire negotiations, with Washington aiming to cut off Iran’s maritime trade routes. With the deadline approaching, the international community is watching closely as the threat of a wider regional conflict looms over the world’s most vital energy corridor.
