Massive explosion on busy highway guts tanker and damages vehicles

January 10, 2026: A massive explosion rocked West Bengal’s Howrah after an oil tanker burst into flames on a busy highway, triggering panic among commuters. The tanker was completely gutted in the blast, and the fire quickly spread to nearby vehicles, leaving thick smoke and towering flames engulfing the area.

At least four other vehicles were caught in the blaze and suffered severe damage. Dramatic visuals from the spot showed firefighters battling intense flames as the highway stretch remained engulfed in smoke. Rescue and firefighting operations were launched immediately to prevent the fire from spreading further.

Authorities have diverted traffic in the area as emergency teams continue operations. The exact cause of the explosion is yet to be determined, and officials are assessing the damage. Further details are awaited as the situation continues to unfold.
