2 Killed, 3 Injured In Overnight Russian Drone Strike On Ukraine’s Odesa Region

An overnight Russian drone attack on Ukraine’s southern Odesa region left two people dead and three others injured, Ukrainian authorities said on Monday.

According to Ukraine’s emergency services, the fatalities occurred after a Russian drone crashed into a truck stop, sparking a fire. The incident was reported via Telegram, where officials shared details of the damage and casualties.

Ukraine’s Infrastructure Minister, Oleksiy Kuleba, said that port infrastructure in the Odesa region was among the targets of the attack. He described the strike as another blow to civilian logistics facilities, accusing Russia of systematically targeting infrastructure with no military purpose in an attempt to weaken the country’s economy.

The freight transport storage area was reportedly damaged in the assault.

The Odesa region, a key shipping hub on the Black Sea, includes major port terminals in Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Pivdennyi. The region has faced repeated attacks since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Russia significantly escalated strikes on Black Sea port infrastructure in late 2025 after President Vladimir Putin threatened to cut Ukraine off from access to the sea.

Industry sources told Reuters last week that recent attacks on Odesa’s ports have reduced export capacity by up to 30% compared to pre-war levels, further straining Ukraine’s economy.
