Army, J&K Police foil infiltration attempt in Baramulla sector

March 15, 2026: A Pakistani terrorist was killed during a joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Uri sector of Baramulla district. The operation was launched in the Buchhar area on the night of March 14–15 following specific intelligence inputs about a possible infiltration attempt.

Security forces spotted suspicious movement in dense vegetation and adjusted their ambush position before challenging the suspect. The militant responded with indiscriminate firing, leading to an exchange of gunfire in which the Pakistani terrorist was neutralised. According to the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, warlike stores including an AK rifle, pistols and a large quantity of ammunition were recovered from the site.

Officials said follow-up operations are continuing to ensure no additional threats remain in the area. Earlier this week, troops of the White Knight Corps also foiled an infiltration attempt near Jhangar in the Nowshera sector along the Line of Control, where one Pakistan-sponsored terrorist was eliminated during the operation.
