A tragic aviation disaster struck Honduras as a Jetstream aircraft crashed into the sea shortly after takeoff from Roatan Island, killing at least seven people and injuring several others. The aircraft, operated by Honduran carrier Lanhsa, was en route to La Ceiba airport on the Honduran mainland when it plunged into the water just one kilometer from the coast.

- 10 people were pulled from the wreckage.
- Six victims succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
