New Delhi, December 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the importance of the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEEC) as a “historic initiative” to boost regional connectivity and economic prosperity during his meeting with the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Thursday.
According to a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), PM Modi conveyed his warm regards to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and expressed satisfaction with the recent high-level exchanges, including the September 2024 visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Modi emphasized that such engagements signify a generational continuity in the deep-rooted ties between India and the UAE.
The leaders discussed strengthening their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, particularly in technology, energy, and people-to-people ties. They also exchanged views on the situation in West Asia, with Sheikh Abdullah sharing the UAE’s perspective on prevailing regional challenges. The Prime Minister thanked the UAE leadership for their continued support of the Indian diaspora, calling it a key pillar of bilateral relations. Later, on social media platform X, Modi reiterated the shared commitment of India and the UAE to collaborate on peace and stability in West Asia and beyond.
“Happy to receive Deputy PM and Foreign Minister of the UAE, HH AB Zayed. India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is poised to achieve unprecedented heights. We are committed to working towards peace, stability, and security in West Asia and the wider region,” Modi wrote.
