Leaders exchange New Year greetings, reaffirm resolve to fight terrorism
January 7, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a telephonic conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which the two leaders exchanged New Year greetings and reviewed the progress of the India–Israel Strategic Partnership. The call highlighted the expanding scope of bilateral relations and the shared commitment of both countries to security and regional stability.
In a post on X, Modi said he was glad to speak with Netanyahu and discussed ways to further strengthen strategic cooperation in the year ahead. Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the steady progress in ties across multiple sectors and agreed to deepen collaboration in areas of mutual interest. Counterterrorism and security cooperation featured prominently in the discussion, with both sides reiterating their firm opposition to terrorism in all its forms.
The leaders also exchanged views on the evolving situation in the Middle East, stressing the need for continued dialogue and coordination to promote peace and stability in the region. Their conversation underlined the growing strategic convergence between New Delhi and Tel Aviv, particularly in addressing shared security challenges.
